The Indianapolis 500 Race, also known as Indianapolis 500 or Indy 500 is an automobile race event that takes place every year on the Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Open-wheel race cars, also known as IndyCar class following the name of the event, take part in this race.
Widely touted as the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, this event is one of the most popular and oldest motor sport events of the world. It is regarded as one of the three most important motor races. The authority does not provide any data about the total number of audience. However, the race has seating capacity for more than 257000 people and with infield seating the total number of audience can be more than 400,000. Based on this number, this event is the largest one-day sport event in the world.
The next race is scheduled to take place on May 30, 2010. The premier event of 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series will be inaugurated with the race. Every Indy 500 race has a certain pace car and this time the pace car will be the 2010 Chevy Camaro. This car is built with a 400 hp, 6.2 litre V-8 engine, an RS appearance and leather made interior with Inferno Orange tone. Camaro has been the pace car in 1967, 1969, 1982, 1993 and 2009.
