The Children’s Museum in Indianapolis touts itself as the largest children’s museum in the entire world. And, rightfully so. With hours of attractions to see and interact with, as well as a full blown planetarium, children will be entertained for the entire day. The museum has five different floors of attractions, with things ranging from exhibits regarding history, to science exhibits that kids can get their hands on and see how the world works. It’s not until you start touching things and experiencing them first hand do you understand the complexity of the world we live in.
I’ve been to plenty of children’s museums in my day, but the majority of them end up only having one or two exhibits worthwhile that end up being crowded by everyone there. The day usually ends up being a waste of time and a waste of money. The museum in Indianapolis, while jammed with people, still has plenty to see and do no matter how busy it gets. But, if you’re looking to avoid the crowds, avoid going on the days that everyone goes: weekends and holidays. You’re just asking to be trampled if you go during the busy times of day. Also, remember to pack a few snacks with you if you want to save some money come lunch time.
